Without resulting to dilute the story with the trivia of Spartan education, society and politics (something that plagues other stories of the type) he goes into depth on the multifaceted theme by having done actual research beforehand. The book's plot and characters manage to remain extremely engaging from start to finish which is a rarity in of itself. This work deserves much more time in the spotlight that it is being given. "Underrated" is a perfect description of this small masterpiece."
