Based on true events.
Kurt, a boy from the slums of Berlin is an orphan of WWI. He is taken in and raised by a wealthy Jewish couple, Mamma and Papa Kaufmann, who give him not only a loving home, but the best advantages in life money can buy. Educated at a prestigious gymnasium, when he graduates, Kurt has one burning ambition, to become an officer in the German army.
Liberal decadence and sexual freedom clash with political extremism, that grows ever more insidious and dangerous for gay men like Kurt, who must keep his sexuality a closely guarded secret.
Soon, Kurt draws the attention of the mysterious Oberst (colonel) Count Maximillian “Max” von Wallenberg from the Abwehr (German military intelligence). Max recognises the growing popularity of the Nazis and the threat posed to the Weimar Republic and he is resolved to do everything in his power to stop Hitler from becoming Chancellor of Germany. Kurt’s life and his destiny are about to change forever..
